Help - Using this Website

Navigation

The menu bar runs along the top or bottom of every page. Click on the ECF logo to change the colour theme of the website. Use the search box to select players, clubs or events.
The default search is for a player; for others first click on the relevant tab.
On most pages clicking on the the heading of any column will re-sort the list.

Players

There are about 160,000 names in the database. Some 30,000 players have active ratings.
The search looks for last name first; if you wish to search for a first name as well enter it after the surname with a comma separating them, e.g. Smith, John. It is not necessary to type the last part of the name in full; simply entering Smit would find all the Smiths, but also Smithers and Smithson, while entering Smith, J would limit the Smiths found to Jack, Jacob, John &c.
Note alternative searches by first name and similar sounding names exist on the header to this screen. Another point to note is that searches default to rated players, but alternatives by unrated or by "All" are available.
Click on a player's name or ECF Code to see their Profile and History.
Click on a player's rating to see the underlying revised rating calculation.

Clubs

The database contains a list of around 3,300 known clubs.
Either choose a county or region from the 'Associations' list to see clubs associated with that County, or type any part of the club's name in the search box to obtain a list of matching clubs. Clicking on the entry for any club in the list will bring up a list of players associated with that club. If the search returns only a single club the system will automatically switch immediately to this view.

Events

The database contains 30,000 events which have been Graded or Rated since 2001.
Select events by year and by playing speed. Type in the Search box to narrow the list.
Click on the event name to see the game results.
